THE PHYLLIS BERNEY ADOPT-A-CRIB PROGRAM

The Phyllis Berney Adopt-A-Crib Program, founded in 1998 by Mrs. Phyllis Berney, has as its mission to provide essential support to Hogar del Niño, an institution dedicated to ensuring the well-being and education of thousands of children from La Romana and its surrounding areas in the Dominican Republic. Since its creation, this program has become the main source of income for Hogar del Niño, ensuring the continuity of its essential services, such as nutrition, medical care, psychological support, and quality education with a technological focus.

Over 28 years, the program has raised more than US$24.3 million, which has allowed Hogar del Niño to expand and improve its facilities, establishing itself as the most comprehensive educational and social center in the region. In 2024, for the first time, the program exceeded US$2 million in donations, reflecting the donors' ongoing commitment and trust in the institution's mission.

The program is based on the "adopt a crib" model, a symbolic act that represents a direct investment in children's future. Through this contribution, donors provide a safe, healthy, and enriching environment, ensuring that children receive what they need for their physical, emotional, and educational development.

Inspired by Mrs. Berney's vision, who expressed that "Hogar del Niño is the heartbeat that gives hope for the future," the program has transformed the lives of thousands of children, providing them with the necessary tools for a future full of opportunities.

To be part of the Phyllis Berney Adopt-A-Crib Program, a minimum annual donation of US$1,000 is required. This contribution, combined with the generosity of other donors, covers the daily operational costs of the school and daycare, which serve more than 2,000 children, while also driving the continuous growth and development of Hogar del Niño's programs.
